The Power to be Your Best
When I was at Apple*, we had significant debates about what we were, and where our focus was.
At that time, in the 1980s, we were minions to IBM, Digital, Compaq and Hewlett Packard in the personal computer (PC) space. We were being kept out by the guardians of the enterprise; the Management Information systems guys.
Things were different at Apple.
Under Steve Jobs’ leadership we were champions of the individual.
We were about empowering the person in their creativity and knowledge working.
We had great debates at Apple about the tag line.
Should we even have one?
And if we did, what should it be?
In the end we did add one; “The power to be your best“.
And in the end, it was the empowerment of the individual’s creativity, and intellect that won the day - not only in personal computing, but also in music, communications, and so many other areas of personal endeavour.
Where is the IBM PC, Compaq, Digital, Apricot today?
I have carried these lessons and insights with me into QuantumLeap.
While others are focused on managing the audit of quality and compliance for the enterprise, we are focused on empowering the auditor and the audit teams to be the best they can be.
This is the reason why I have invested years into understanding the auditor process, and I have focused our software development on the functionality that will enable auditors to be better at delivering value, and to be as good as they can be.
This is a different approach from all our competitors.
It makes sense, that if you want to be the best in your profession, you need to get the tools to be the best that you can be. And give your teams the tools to be the best that they can be.
You might have to convince your enterprise that you need the best…. but we know that you will prevail.
